It was a solo effort of Mark Crowe (assisted by Dynamix writer David Selle) after The Two Guys From Andromeda split. After a soundtrack by SQ4 composer Ken Allen was rejected for reasons unknown, Dynamix musicians Christopher Stevens and Tim Clarke rushed to create a score for Space Quest V, which was by far the largest game in the series at that point. They managed to create an orchestral score that perfectly underpinned the comic book swashbuckling style of the game, bringing both menace, levity, and gravitas to a story that was both silly and serious. This reorchestration was done using the original MIDI files from the game. Nothing was re-recorded - these are the tunes as they appear in the game, just reorchestrated with modern instrument patches. Hey, guess what! There are bonus tracks included if you download the album. These are tracks that are in the game's resource files but are unused in the game itself - as well as some quirky remixes of a couple of tunes that I did for a giggle.
